Article source, Article source,As people reduce their spending on everything from clothing to food to automobiles many economists are concerned about a new and deep recession. The New York Times reports automobile sales are plummeting, airline traffic has fallen so quickly that carriers can't sideline planes and cut routes quickly enough. Restaurant chains struggle to fill tables and store owners fret about a potentially disastrous holiday season ahead. The government will release quarterly figures for consumer spending later this month. Many analysts expect to see the first quarterly decline since 1990 which came just ahead of the 1991 recession. The Conference Board reports the percentage of Americans saying they expect to buy a car in the next six months has fallen to just 5-percent. That's the lowest figure since the question was first asked in a consumer confidence survey in 1967. Restaurants too are taking a beating

Mary Kate is a senior outside/middle hitter on the Providence Catholic volleyball team. She notched 10 service points and six kills in the Celtics loss to Marist last week.
Do you have any pre-game rituals?
The girls and I always attend a dinner at a teammate's house and then we get pumped up by dancing.
Who is your favorite athlete?
Misty May-Treanor because she is awesome at volleyball.
What is in your CD player or on your iPod?
My iPod consists of a lot of Britney Spears, Dave Matthews and Lil' Wayne.
What is your favorite thing to do when you're not playing volleyball?
I like to go shopping in my free time and also hang out with friends.
What would be your ultimate volleyball highlight?
To play D1 volleyball.
What is something not many people know about you?
Many people don't know that I like to eat healthy and that I live in Evergreen Park.
What is one thing that you can't live without?
I would not be able to live without my friends and family because they are my support group.
If you could be any character from a movie, who would you be and why?
I would be Cameron Diaz from 'The Holiday' because she plays a chaotic role and then finds happiness.
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to run a fashion line.
Where is your volleyball career going from here?
Hopefully I can move on to volleyball at the college level.
